We’re looking for short stories, comics, and non-fiction. We lean toward the speculative, but some of our favorite writers and artists tell realistic stories grounded in strange, fantastical, or science-fictional sensibilities.

We pay $30 per accepted work and buy first English publication rights. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but we ask that you send only one piece at a time. Your work may be published in the print and ebook editions, online, in audio, or all of the above.

We accept submissions only through our online submission system. Brief cover letters are appreciated but not required — let us know the length of the submission as well as any past publications or basic biographical details you'd like to share.

If you decide to submit something to the zine, thanks for trusting us with your work.

Our print edition will be black and white (at least for now), but we'll publish full-color comics online. As a general rule, we will work with you to accommodate accepted work in print. For reference, our printed page dimensions will be 6.75 by 8.5 inches.
We’re open to a wide variety of non-fiction, from memoir to literary or pop culture criticism. Broad areas of interest include ecology, social justice, and personal experience, especially as they might relate to books, comics, and the speculative. Wordcounts should typically run between 500 and 9,000 words, though that’s flexible at both ends.
